Ayurveda

An ancient healing method which originated in India more than 5,000 years ago.

Ayurvedic medicine is a holistic approach to health and concentrates on prevention rather that cure.  By balancing one's life through diet, elimination of toxins, lifestyle changes and inner spiritual peace, an Ayuverdic approach can bring enormous benefits to psoriasis sufferers.  Because psoriasis is an auto-immune problem then any holistic approach will give positive benefits.  It depends entirely on how far the person seeking self help is prepared to go down the road to taking control of their own good health.

It is fundamental to vital health to achieve inner balance through a holistic approach rather than to treat just the symptoms of any disease.

Managing disease and restoring health involves assessing the whole person to understand the nature of the imbalance. A specific treatment regime for psoriasis usually would involve the application of certain topical oils or dressings; fasting then introducing foods one at a time to establish which foods are causing intolerance problems and other specific dietary guidelines; handling stress and awareness of an inner peace from within; the elimination of toxic chemicals in the diet and environment and daily exercise.

Eds Note:  I don't know of any specific studies done on Ayurveda as regards to psoriasis.  However, I would have no hesitation in recommending the principles of Ayurveda healing as it ties in neatly with what I believe a holistic approach to all health matters should be.
